Books To Read This Summer

Wednesday the 21st was the official start of summer (even though it’s already been 100 degrees every day over here in Phoenix), and it’s time to get excited for those vacation reads. To me, a beach/summer/vacation read is a book that’s usually in the romance or thriller category. You’re on vacation because you need a break from the hardships of life, and it’s not the time for heavy novels. We want light reading that keeps you hooked and keeps you turning those pages. There’s nothing better than a bubbly drink, a beautiful view, and an engrossing story. Here are my recommendations for books that fit that bill.

Romances

Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston was the first romance I ever read, and I loved it so much. The president’s son and a Prince of England fall in love. Not only do we get a great romance storyline, but the friends of Alex, the first son, are such a great addition to the story. It’s also coming to the big screen on August 11 on Amazon Prime, so it’s a great time to read before the hype of the movie.

Speaking of royalty, if you haven’t yet, you need to read all of Emily Henry’s books; Beach Read, People We Meet on Vacation, Book Lovers, and Happy Place (I’m currently in the middle of Happy Place). She’s been labeled the Queen of Summer Rom-Coms for a reason. Each book has strong characters and a vacation-like location. My…
